There could be several reasons for the success of “why this kolaveri di” songs. Here are a few possible reasons;
(1) The magical lyrics of Kolaveri di song:
“White skin-u girl-u girl-u, girl-u heart-u black-u.” Anyone can actually sing this song with little or no effort without knowing what it means. In addition, it’s a love song. The song was supposedly sung by a person who had been unlucky in love. Most people in their lives face this particular scenario hence can easily associate with the song. Lovers can easily sing the song to their other halfs.
The released video is the actual making of Kolaveri Di team and not a picturised version. It shows Danush practicing the “soup” song. Others such as, Aishwarya, Shruti Hassan are sitting close and listening to the song with him. The actual movie will be pictured differently from what is being shown. Often people love to associate with amateur stuff.
(3) New refreshing sound:
The lovers of Kolaveri song are saying that sound, tune and music are very refreshing and pleasant. It has been composed by young Anirudh Ravichander.
The director of the move “Three” desired to have a common and easy song for bathroom singers. The song does not restrict any group or community or age. The female version of why this Kolaveri di has been promised by Sony Entertainment (India). But currently an unofficial female version of Kolaveri di is doing the rounds on internet. The theme is so basic that any tune can be made. Just add "U" at the end. After couple of days after release, different language versions are made and are shared over the internet.

A big part was played by social networking sites. The song was shared on Twitter, Facebook and other networks like rapid fire. Radio stations in Chennai have reported that more than 90% listeners have requested this song several times over.
(6) Celebrity production:
What is with politicians and film stars in India? Their sons and daughters and rest of their family are pushed into the profession. The song is by Dhanush, who is son-in-law of RajaniKant. The movie “3” is directed by RajaniKant’s daughter Aishwarya Ranajikant. Shruti Hassan happens to be co-star with Dhanush in the move “3”. She is the daughter of Kamal Hassan and classical dancer.
(7) Applauded by other stars:
The song was appreciated by Big B Amitabh Bachchan and tweeted about it.

I enjoyed the Kolaveri Di song very much, though I could hardly make out of it any sense. But I am of opinion that though no body understands the chirping sound of birds, the breeze of air,and the sound of sea wave but these sounds are so melodious that every body loves it. In the same manner Kolaveri Di is very melodious and sweet to ear. I have been listening it relentlessly.

This is due to big role played by media by showing anything related to Bachchan/bollywood or Rajini/tamil has to be a hit. from youtube hits to number of minutes dhanush took to write this everything becomes national headline while the same doesn’t apply to other artists. There is also a lot of media buzz around this.
Movies are produced by persons who have lots of connections with politics in TN. Hence you can expect lots of high budget movies, this too has reasons. Tamil population is twice than kannada speaking population and people have infinite love towards movies. Hence they try to market the movies maximum to get huge profits. In the name of marketing they use Tamil language weakness factor also. I dont know about ARR’s tamil gimmicks.
Come up with good songs or bad songs whatever it is, market them properly so that it will reach people.
The song is better then what the dirty Khans are creating on Bombay.
Sing in Tanglish it will be hit in Tamilnadu.I dont know people like killing tamil. It reflects tamil people, How they dont know english completely as well as Tamil. Obvious that they dont know Hindi so what language you know. Tanglish.... Why this Kolaveri makkal....

Why this kolaveri di is catchy and there is nothing wrong with it. Just a little bit of fun song with lyrics used to make it funny. Its a great song.
Hey this has become an infectious rage at my place of work. Who ever goes into the tea room is playing this track. It’s played in the cabs, the cafeteria, during the breaks, in the smoking areas, every nook and corner man. Those who think anti tamil or English or woman get yourselves checked by a good doctor.
