Ilayaraja may be said the first among the commendable in amonst the lines of Tamil film music. He sang songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English. Ilayaraja also entered non-film albums, such as "How to Name It" and "Nothing But Wind," which were well-received in India and abroad.
