Tamil music is blended evenly in the culture and life of Tamil people. It has been with them since their original. Dance and music have been there daily activities and later turned out to be a great source of literature for Tamil people. For centuries, they developed the Carnatic music and they have not failed to mix with the latest trend too. Their quick updates with current trend could be visualized and heard in the recent Tamil film songs.
The classical form of music in Tamil Nadu is called as the Carnatic music. It is a long history where the classical performers established themselves worldwide with the best music. Since Carnatic music mostly deals with melody and its variation, it immediately attracts the ears of people. It is closely related with the dance form of Tamil culture Bharatha Natiyam. Carnatic is considered the oldest tradition in world history.
The state is also filled with folk lures from rural areas. As it is commonly occurs in any nation, folk lore are sung usually during any tiresome occupation to keep off the worries and pain in the physic. One specialty of Tamil Nadu is that folk lore is sung in every event of life. This is unique compared to the folk lore in other state or other nations. Folk lore is sung during both happy times and sad times. For example, women sing folk lores when a girl is gets married and leave to her husband house leaving back her own house. It is also sung during the death of a person. It is sung either in praise of the person or in curse of the person, based on the life he lived so long.
Famous musicians like A.R.Rehman and Ilaiyaraja established Tamil music in films worldwide. Ilaiyaraja is called as the maestro of Tamil Music. He composed is symphony before the world and he took forward the entire Tamil music before the crowd. It is a great boon for Tamil film industry to get a maestro like him. Another boon to the industry comes in the form of A.R.Rehman. Other famous music directors are Yuvan Shankar Raja son of Ilaiyaraja, Harris Jeyaraj, Vidyasagar, Yesudas and many more legends have contributed to the success of Tamil music in films. If there is any descriptive word higher than legends then those descriptive words should be used with the famous K.V.Mahadevan and M.S.Vishwanathan.
The traditional Tamil music, which was in the lives of people slowly changed to be a great legendary work that was not so easily captured by common public. Now, Tamil film music has again brought them to the common folks through the music of famous music directors. Society has started to recognize and live in peace with the Tamil film music.
